There will probably be more plastic in the ocean than fish by 2050

Marine trash has been harming marine life for a very long time. These negative effects hurt both people and animals.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature estimates that people produce 300 million tonnes of plastic each year, at least 14 million of which end up in the ocean.

Scientists are concerned about the amount of plastic contamination. Due to the amount of plastic in the water, it is now being questioned whether seafood is safe for human consumption.

Microplastics are produced as plastics degrade, and animals that mistake plastic for food can ingest them, often resulting in death.

By 2050, there will probably be more plastic in the ocean than fish.

📝 Análise das alternativas (com pegadinhas)

(A) ❌ Present perfect tense
Pegadinha: identificação incompleta. O verbo não está apenas no present perfect (has harmed), mas sim em uma forma contínua.

(B) ✅ Present perfect continuous tense
Pegadinha: forma longa e técnica. A estrutura has been + verb-ing indica uma ação iniciada no passado e que continua até o presente.

(C) ❌ Past perfect tense
Pegadinha: confusão temporal. O past perfect exige outro evento passado como referência, o que não ocorre no enunciado.

(D) ❌ Past perfect continuous tense
Pegadinha: semelhança estrutural enganosa. Faltaria had been; o verbo usado é has been, indicando tempo presente.

(E) ❌ Simple past tense
Pegadinha: leitura superficial. O simple past seria harmed, sem relação com duração contínua.
